EDITOR'S NOTE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello students of Los Altos!

As we enter the 'holiday' season, we see the second issue of LAYA! I hope
you enjoyed our exciting premier issue, and hopefully you'll recommend this
e-letter to all your friends. As LAYA continues to expand, we welcome
suggestions and constructive criticism. A look into the future: we hope to
have an HTML encoded layout. If the layout if ANY of the LAYA issues
doesn't look right, please contact us immediately (please). We had a little
problem sending out the first LAYA issue, and we (hopefully) have fixed the
error. Thanks for your patience waiting for the first issue, we owe it all to
our subscribers.
One other thing, we have had several requests to have the e-letter less
formal. We'll do our best to change to the growing needs of you, the
subscriber. Cheers to the future,

Robert Chin
CEO of LAYA!

STORIES OF THE BIZARRE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

COTTON PATCH, Ark. (7-25) -- Two men were involved in a
bizarre accident while returning home from a frog giggling trip.
Thurston Pole, 33, and Billy Ray Wallis, 38 were traveling to
Des Arc when their pick-up truck's headlights stopped
working.
Both men determined that the headlight fuse had burned
out and no replacement was available. That's when Wallis
concluded that the bullet from his .22 caliber pistol fit
perfectly into the fuse box. The lights started working and
the two men were on their way.
Twenty miles later, the overheated bullet discharged and
struck Poole in the right testicle. The vehicle swerved off
the road and came to a sudden stop when it collided with
a tree.
"Thank God we weren't on that bridge when Thurston shot
his nuts off or we might both be dead," said Wallis who
sustained a broken clavicle.
When Lavinia, Poole's wife, first heard of the accident
she asked how many frogs the men had caught and was
concerned that nobody got them from the truck.

The Robbed Robbers
Source: Reuter
BOGOTA, (10-15) -- Two Colombian men who stole $1,600
during a bank robbery were immediately mugged while
fleeing the scene.
Heyne Zapata, 21, and Carlos Bedoya, 19, were robbed
themselves less than a block away from the bank. Police
arrested the two men and charged them with bank robbery.
The muggers got away with the money.

Raped Woman Escapes From the Grave to Marry Attacker
Source: Agence France Presse
CAIRO (10-12) -- A 19-year-old unidentified woman who
became impregnated by a rapist was buried alive by her
brothers to save the family honor.
Her brothers decided to "cleanse the family honor", and
with the help of their cousins they attempted to strangle her.
Presuming that she was dead, they threw her into a tomb at
the local cemetery.
"When I woke up I found myself plunged in total darkness
and I realized that they had thrown me into a tomb when I
groped around with my hands and touched the remains of
dead people. I forced myself to be brave and spent the night
trying to break out of the tomb. Luckily I managed to get
out because it was made out of cob [mixture of clay, gravel
and straw]," the woman was quoted as saying.
When the rapist learned of the victim's story he decide to
marry her. Her brothers and cousins are under investigation.

Baby Food and Beer Save Cabbie
Source: AP
PITTSBURGH (10-14) -- A cab driver survived on beer and
baby food after being locked up in the trunk of his cab for
more than two days. LeRoy Enoch, 44, said he was robbed
of $40 and locked in the trunk of his own vehicle.
He was discovered when a passerby heard his cries for help.
Enoch refused medical attention.

Unhappy Inmate Mails Dead Mouse to Federal Magistrate
Source: AP
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (10-12) -- A prisoner killed a mouse and
mailed it to a federal magistrate "to show what I'm being
subjected to." Earnest L. Arrington wrote a letter to U.S.
Magistrate in which he said:
"There are rats, not mice, that jump in the bed with you
when you are asleep. What's to stop a rat or a roach from
getting in your cup, or licking your spoon?"
The man will use the incident in his lawsuit over conditions
at Donaldson Correctional Facility in Jefferson County.

Mom Sells Daughter for Drugs
Source: UPI
FLINT, Mich. (10-15) -- A prostitute sold her 12-year-old daughter for
sex in order to get drug money. The woman went to her daughter's
school and took her to an abandoned building across the street where a
man was waiting. The man raped the girl, then asked the mother for
permission to do it one more time. The mother agreed. After the
incident, the woman paid her daughter with a $1 food stamp.

IN OTHER BIZARRE NEWS:

DUBLIN (Reuter, 10-17) -- A geography teacher asked student
to bring geological items to classroom. Imagine the shock when
one of the students showed up with a rusty grenade.

COPENHAGEN (Reuters, 10-11) -- A police patrol was sent to
investigate an incident where a naked man was walking the
streets of Aarhus in freezing temperatures. The man was neither
drunk nor crazy, he was sleepwalking.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fl. (UPI, 10-21) -- A woman plans to sue
an alligator which she claims it caused her daughter trauma during an
alleged attack.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (Reuter, 10-21) -- Trinidad
and Tabago probably has the most illiterate millionaires. "There are
people who own millions of dollars in fixed deposits and cannot sign
their names. They put an X or thumb print but they own millions," said
Sat Maharaj, head of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha, the largest Indian
organization.

TEHRAN (UPI, 10-22) -- The Iranian government is
worried that children may use the American Barbie Doll as a role
model. They decided to launch their own version which "meet Muslim
codes of modesty."

BOGOTA (Reuter, 10-16) -- A Colombian man was
annoyed by his one-year-old stepchild's crying, so he decided to
silence him by driving two sewing needles through his heart.

LONDON(Reuter, 10-18) -- Brian Green stormed out of a betting shop
thinking he had lost his bet. Six days later he was told his horse won
$500,000. Green spent a little over ONE dollar on the bet, but forgot
which horse he picked.

BRASILIA (Reuter, 10-20) -- According to a
recent Gallup Institute poll, Sao Paulo may be the worst city to live
in. 63 percent of the people surveyed said they were dissatisfied with
the life in the largest South American city.

THE OJ TRIAL AS TOLD BY DR. SUESS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did not kill my lovely wife.
I did not slash her with a knife.
I did not bonk her on the head.
I did not know that she was dead.

I stayed at home that fateful night.
I took a cab, then took a flight.
The bag I had was just for me.
My bag! My bag! Just let it be.

When I came home I had a gash.
My hand was cut from broken glass.
I cut my hand on broken glass.
A broken glass did cause the gash.

I don't have anything to hide.
My friend, he took me for a ride.

Did you take this person's life?
Did you do it with a knife?
I did not do it with a knife.
I did not, could not kill my wife.
I did not do this awful crime.
I could not, would not anytime.

Did you hit her from above?
Did you drop this bloody glove?

I did not hit her from above.
I cannot even wear that glove.
I did not do it with a knife.
I did not, could not kill my wife.
I did not do this awful crime.
I could not, would not anytime.

And now I'm free and can return.
To my house for which I yearn.
And to my family whom I love.
Hey, now I'm free. Give back my glove!
